Janella Lacson is a Las Vegas-based director, writer and creative who absolutely loves stories.

As a proud queer Filipino-American born and raised in Los Angeles, Janella has many stories to tell. This passion of hers led to making her first short film, The First Date, as part of the inaugural OutSet Film Mentoring program, organized by Outfest Film Festival. That same year, The First Date was programmed in San Francisco's Frameline, Palm Springs International Film Festival, NBC Short Cuts and Outfest, winning the Audience Award for Best Short Film at the festival in 2012.

In 2015, Janella graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts with a BFA in Film & Television. Moonlight, her second short film, which she wrote and directed as a student at NYU, was apart of Cannes Film Festival’s Court Metragé in 2016.

From 2016 to 2020, Janella worked as a director in commercials, branded and social media content with Mesh Lab, a creative content solutions company based in Manila, Philippines. Her time in Manila refined her skills in conceptualizing, developing and executing various types of video media. Videos created by Janella have amassed more than 12 million views online. She has collaborated with both local and international brands, including her exclusive client, Google.

You can find Janella at home, consuming a wide variety of television shows and movies with her partner and two cats.
