Janella Lacson is a Las Vegas-based video production creative who absolutely loves stories. She is a writer, producer, director and editor.
As a proud queer Filipino-American born and raised in Los Angeles, Janella has many stories to tell. This passion of hers led to making her first short film, The First Date, as part of the inaugural OutSet Film Mentoring program, organized by Outfest Film Festival. That same year, The First Date was programmed in San Francisco's Frameline, Palm Springs International Film Festival, NBC Short Cuts and Outfest, winning the Audience Award for Best Short Film at the festival in 2012.
In 2015, Janella graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts with a BFA in Film & Television. Moonlight, her second short film, which she wrote and directed as a student at NYU, was a part of Cannes Film Festival’s Court Metragé in 2016.
From 2016 to 2020, Janella worked as a video director, directing commercials, branded and social media content with Mesh Lab, a creative content solutions company based in Manila, Philippines. Videos created by Janella have amassed more than 12 million views on social platforms.
In 2022, Janella received a NATAS-PW Emmy Award nomination in Outstanding Achievement in Human Interest News. FOX5 also won the Emmy for Overall Excellence at the NATAS-PW Emmy Awards the same year.
Currently, Janella produces video content for the Las Vegas Raiders.
